First speakers for Porto Tech Hub Conference 2017 announced

Porto Tech Hub Conference, the biggest tech event in Porto is back and this year we have a couple of surprises.

To start, we just announced the first speakers for the 2017 edition: Simona Cotin from Microsoft, Benjamin Fuentes from IBM and Simon Ritter from Azul Systems.

Simona is an enthusiastic full stack developer with experience in building rich data visualization for network data and more recently in the cloud. Communities power her up and that’s why she is co-organising the Javascript London meetup. Passionate about knowledge sharing, she has also mentored at workshops for Women Who Code and NgGirls encouraging women to learn more about programming.

Benjamin has been promoting Bluemix platform for cognitive solutions based on Web & Mobile App, IoT (Internet of Things) and Blockchain. He has developed an expertise on Blockchain technology at IBM using Hyperledger Fabric for Ecosystem developers & startup Europe & IBM Nice Garage.

Simon Ritter is the Deputy CTO of Azul Systems. He joined Sun Microsystems in 1996 and started working with Java technology from JDK 1.0; he has spent time working in both Java development and consultancy. Having moved to Oracle as part of the Sun acquisition, he managed the Java Evangelism team for the core Java platform, Java for client applications and embedded Java. Now at Azul, he continues to help people understand Java as well as Azul’s JVM technologies and products. Simon has twice been awarded Java Rockstar status at JavaOne and is a Java Champion. He currently represents Azul on the JCP Executive Committee and on the Expert Group of JSR 379, Java SE 9.

But we have more news for you.

Porto Tech Hub Conference is growing, this year we are expecting about 1000 participants. To welcome all the participants we needed a bigger space, so the 2017 edition will take place at Alfândega do Porto. A beautiful venue near the river.
