The AI-Powered Software Engineering – From Mindset to Delivery course is a specialist training programme designed to prepare software development professionals and teams to integrate Generative Artificial Intelligence throughout every stage of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) – from conceptualisation and architecture to continuous delivery and maintenance.

The 15 hour course programme takes a cross-cutting approach to Software Engineering (focusing on Frontend, Backend, APIs, Architecture, Testing and DevOps), integrating generative artificial intelligence tools into the development lifecycle to help automate and accelerate the entire process of creating and developing a solution.

To Whom Is AI-Powered Software Engineering - From Mindset to Delivery?

Software Developers (Frontend, Backend and Full-Stack), Software Engineers, Solution Architects, Technical Leads and QA/DevOps Professionals.

Recommended for those with knowledge of programming languages such as JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Java, C#, or similar, as well as basic familiarity with Git and version control.

Our Objectives

Understand the modern ecosystem of AI-assisted Software Engineering
Use code assistants strategically, critically and securely in Full-Stack development.
Apply AI to conceptualisation, prototyping, architecture and the generation of APIs/data models.
Implement AI-assisted testing practices (unit, integration and e2e), ensuring quality, safe refactoring and code reliability.
Integrate AI-assisted DevOps automations and CI/CD pipelines into the development workflow.
Develop a cross-cutting practical project, applying AI tools from specification through to final delivery.

Course Plan

Up to 19 students per cohort;
15 contact hours per cohort;
Hybrid format, both in-person and online sessions.

Module 1 - Introduction & AI Development Mindset

  • The new AI-assisted development lifecycle.
  • Tool ecosystem (Copilot, Cursor, Claude, ChatGPT).
  • Prompt Engineering for developers & Context Engineering (.cursorrules, CLAUDE.md, local RAG).
  • Specification of the practical project to be developed throughout the modules, culminating in its final delivery in Module 6.

Module 2 - Intelligent Design, Architecture & Prototyping

  • Rapid prototyping of interfaces and APIs using AI.
  • Generation of database schemas, data models and mocks.
  • AI support for software architecture design.

Module 3 - Full-Stack Development with AI Assistants

  • AI-assisted Frontend and Backend development.
  • Refactoring, design patterns and multi-language support.
  • Navigating, understanding and debugging legacy code.

Module 4 - AI-Assisted Quality, Testing & Security

  • Automated test generation (Unit, Integration, E2E).
  • AI-assisted Code Review and static analysis.
  • Vulnerability identification and optimisation.

Module 5 - DevOps, Documentation & Continuous Delivery

  • AI-Driven DevOps (GitHub Actions, Dockerfiles, CI/CD).
  • Technical documentation (OpenAPI/Swagger, READMEs).

Module 6 - Project

  • Consolidation of the Practical Project developed throughout the programme, applying AI tools from specification through to final delivery.
  • Delivery and presentation.
