SWitCH QA: programme that has already trained more than 60 professionals, opens for applications
Course created by Porto Tech Hub in partnership with ISEP lasts 9 months. There are 30 places available for the third edition of the programme.
SWiTCH QA, the requalification and specialization programme created by Porto Tech Hub in partnership with the Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto (ISEP), has opened applications for its new edition. The postgraduate course, which can accommodate up to 30 students, is open until February 4th.
In SWiTCH QA, students acquire fundamental knowledge of assessing the security and quality of technological applications, through subjects such as Software Development and Testing, completing a project at the end of each module. The course is designed for professionals who already work with manual software testing, offering a refresher in skills and knowledge to enable them to transition to automated testing, or for professionals who want to enter this area. In this way, the course broadly covers the area of technology, with a view to quickly integrating students into the job market as Information Technology professionals.
Throughout the course, modules are taught that deepen knowledge of the fast application of software development and testing skills, with the programme having three main objectives: analysis, design and development of web applications and the implementation of automated tests in TypeScript/JavaScript. The pedagogical approach is based on the Project-based learning (PBL) teaching method, with an emphasis on collaborative and teamwork.
“The last ten years have seen exponential growth in Porto’s technological ecosystem, which in turn has been accompanied by successive advances in technology. This is reflected in a gap for companies, which need increasingly qualified and specialized professionals, and it is in this context that, at Porto Tech Hub, we believe that investment in education is essential,” explains Inês Maia, vice-president of Porto Tech Hub. “Our regular investment in the training and qualification of professionals has added a lot of value, both to the city’s business fabric and to the talent itself. SWitCH QA is a comprehensive course that responds to these market demands, as it covers system testing techniques as a whole. Within each system, testing techniques are also covered, which is fundamental knowledge for integration into today’s job market,” she adds.
Starting in March 2025 and lasting 9 months, the course will take place in person and on an after-work basis, with classes from Monday to Friday and an estimated workload of 25 hours a week. There is the possibility of participants taking up a paid internship at the end of the course, subject to vacancies opening up at Porto Tech Hub member companies. Companies based in Porto interested in taking on Quality Assurance trainees can contact Porto Tech Hub at switch@portotechhub.com.
Applications can be made until February 4th via the Porto Tech Hub website, where all the information about the programme and the application process is also available.
