Do you want to change careers and invest in technology? SWitCH QA is for you!

Designed for professionals who want to make a career transition and enter the technology sector, the 2nd edition of the Porto Tech Hub programme gives participants the opportunity to become Quality Assurance Testers. Applications close on February 4th.

Porto Tech Hub, in partnership with the Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto, announces the 2nd edition of SWitCH QA, a postgraduate course aimed at training Quality Assurance Testers.

According to the Experis Tech Talent Outlook, Portugal is the third country in the world that most wants to hire in the IT sector in the first quarter of 2024. As a result, there is a growing demand for professionals involved in creating programs and applications, as well as those dedicated to testing them to ensure the quality of these technological products, Porto Tech Hub said in a statement.

The course has 30 places available and the deadline for applications is February 4, 2024. The postgraduate course is aimed at anyone wishing to make a career transition and enter the technology sector. Professionals who currently work with manual software testing can also apply, as it allows them to update their skills to carry out tests in an automated way, explains the non-profit association of technology companies.

There are no restrictions on candidates’ academic background or previous work experience, all that is required is a completed degree. And, in order to facilitate the retraining of people who are currently working, the course is taught after work hours and lasts 32 weeks.

Upon completion, students will obtain the postgraduate certificate awarded by ISEP. In addition, students may be able to do a paid internship at one of Porto Tech Hub’s partner companies.

“Despite the high demand in the technology sector, the majority of Quality Assurance Testers lack specific training and in-depth knowledge of the real needs of the market. In Portugal, we still fall short of our potential in the area of testing in this sector, which is crucial for the evolution of quality products. Our aim with SWitCH QA is to change that, by offering new professionals the chance to enter a career with great prospects for the future, becoming qualified specialists ready to innovate in a constantly changing sector,” says Joana Linhas, vice-president of Porto Tech Hub.

SWitCH QA comes after the positive results of several editions of the SWitCH Dev course, aimed at training software developers, which has already provided successful entry into the technology market for more than 200 professionals.
