Artificial versus Natural Intelligence

This talk provides a basic understanding of artificial intelligence and compares human and machine intelligence which is currently changing the landscape of data analytics, in business and in our everyday life. A brief survey of the evolution of AI is given, and the enablers for the current technology are also described. The talk develops a perspective that computers are becoming more intelligent to symbiotically help human societies expand and survive.

About the speaker 

Jose C. Principe (M’83-SM’90-F’00) is a Distinguished Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Biomedical Engineering at the University of Florida where he teaches advanced signal processing, machine learning and artificial neural networks (ANNs) modeling. He is the Eckis Professor of ECE and the Founder and Director of the University of Florida Computational NeuroEngineering Laboratory (CNEL) www.cnel.ufl.edu .
