SWiTCH Dev returns to fill the tech talent gap
According to a study by ManpowerGroup, Portugal is still the fourth country in the world with the greatest shortage of talent, especially in the IT sector, and Joana Linhas, vice-president of the Porto Tech Hub, explains that “investment in training new professionals is the key to meeting this challenge”.
Those interested in the requalification programme can register for the postgraduate course until July 2nd, for which there are 32 places. Created in partnership with the Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto, the training lasts one year in a face-to-face format and will begin in October.
SWitCH Dev aims to give students “skills and knowledge in the areas of software engineering and programming, methodologies, tools and support techniques, and agile development of software solutions in a business context” and uses “interactive learning methods”.
At the end of the programme, participants with a positive evaluation will have the chance to do a paid internship at one of Porto Tech Hub’s partner companies, and professionals from these organizations will also share their experiences in workshops and mentor students throughout the duration of the postgraduate course.
She adds that the SwitCH Dev program offers “not only technical knowledge, but also the opportunity for participants to connect directly with the job market, preparing professionals to lead in this digital transformation”.
